Greek Study Highlights High Disease Burden in Inflammatory Bowel Disease Patients Despite Biologic Therapy

Apr 7, 2025

We are pleased to announce the results of our latest  study, conducted in collaboration with HELLESCC | Hellenic Society of Crohn Disease And Ulcerative Colitis Patients.

Our findings highlight a critical insight: a significant proportion of patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) continue to experience a high disease burden despite biological therapy.

🎯 Key Findings:
🟢 Despite biologic treatments, many IBD patients in Greece still face:
🔸 Poor quality of life (QoL)
🔸 Increased work and activity impairment

📊 48% of patients reported moderate to severe depressive symptoms, revealing the considerable psychological impact of IBD.

⚠️ 30% experienced severe impairment in work and daily activities.
💬 4 in 10 patients expressed dissatisfaction with their current treatment.

💡 It’s time to shift our focus toward holistic care, integrating psychological support and striving for real improvements in the daily lives of IBD patients.
